So, want to know what is entertaining? Hold tight, cause I'm gonna tell you.
Here's what's entertaining: walking into a little hole-in-the-wall art store and noticing that right behind the cashier counter there is a large, clumsily drawn (think Napoleon Dynamite) picture of Ronald Reagan. Presumably already deceased, since he is floating in space next to a cracked, somewhat aflame Earth. We can reasonably infer that the sad state of the planet is due to evil Democratic schemes. We can reasonably infer this, because--and this is the best part--there is a large, glistening, over-sketched tear pouring slowly down his cheek.
That's entertaining.
Rachel Brown! Where are you Rachel Brown! This picture was MADE for you! Go buy it. You can't miss it, it's right next to a whole wall of sappy John Wayne portraits.

Creative Compliments
Recently I was trying to explain to Dustin that the reason his sister hates him (she doesn't really hate him, they just fight like cute little kittens all the time) is because he has no idea how to handle girls. Girls need compliments. Girls need affection. Girls need to feel loved, which doesn't happen too much when Dustin is constantly reminding Danielle of all the horrible things he did to her when they were kids (chopping the arms and legs off her doll, giving her stuffed animals he found in a dumpster, and so on and so forth.)
So anyway, Dustin just tried out one of his brand new awesome girl compliments on me:
"I love the way you breathe. It's very thought-provoking."

Ok I know you're all tired of hearing about these little incidents, but here are two more. Sorry. I can't stop myself.
Tonight after dinner, Dustin comes up behind me. This is not going where you think. He kisses my neck. It's still not going where you think. He then whispers in his sexiest voice, "Every housewife eventually becomes Marge Simpson."
Now he is happily making the baby dance on his lap and singing "Kumbaya." Loudly. Okay, does anybody know how Dustin got this way, because I'm loving it, but also completely befuddled. Bunny!!! Have you been giving my husband lessons in goofiness and/or eclectic charm?

good quote
Reading "The Fountainhead," good book, I highly recommend it, I've read it tons but I guess I'll read it one more time. I've got the memory of a goldfish and it's 700 pages long, so I never get bored, and if I alternate between that and "Atlas Shrugged," which is 1500 pages, it's like I never have to buy another book ever again. (Also, the Ayn Rand Foundation sent me this one for free. Maybe they are tired of all the essays I write them and want to keep me busy doing something else.) Anyways, found this quote in there that I thought was very well worded:
"Don't you know that most people take most things because that's what's given them, and they have no opinion whatever? Do you wish to be guided by what they expect you to think they think or by your own judgment?"
It grabbed my attention because the characters in question are discussing ideals of beauty in society which is something students in my major, myself included, like to B.S. about endlessly. If one more person gets a soulful look on their face and says in a breathy, reverent voice "What IS art?" I'm just going to scream out loud. But, I liked this quote mainly because I agree with it, and also because it reminds me a lot of the types of things my art professor Wulf used to say in our Business Practice for Artists class fall semester. He's a funny guy. He doesn't take crap from anybody, especially the I'm-wearing-love-crystals-and-I-knit-my-own-clothes-from-homegrown-henna-because-it's-fashionable crowd. I think he gets away with a lot of stuff because A) his German accent makes him sound intelligent AND gives him the excuse to pretend that he doesn't know what's going on, and B) nobody wants to get mad at a nice old man in Birkenstocks and John Lennon glasses. I mean really. Who would dare? Also, you wouldn't want to anyway because Wulf is appropriately named and takes great pleasure in biting people's heads off (this is not really a metaphor.)
So there's my two cents for today. Goal in life complete. Oh, and by the way, I'm taking an actual painting class from Wulf this spring, have I mentioned I'm terrified?

Recently Overheard
Recently overheard coming out of Dustin and I won't even say which end:
"The baby's head smells like broccoli!" (Followed by deep, repeated sniffing of the baby's head, as if this were fantastic.)
"You can give a baby a mouth, but you can't lead him to water." (Followed by an extremely confused facial expression.)
Cutest
husband
